Project Overview:

Bechtel Infrastructure’s Renewables & Clean Power business line is seeking qualified project controls professionals for a forthcoming combined cycle power plant project planned in Wyoming.This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the reemerging power business supporting our customers and society

Job Summary:

The Stakeholder & Community Engagement Lead is responsible for both communications and stakeholder management. Working at the project site and reporting to the Site Manager, the SCE Lead plays a key role in supporting communications about project activities that may affect local stakeholders, maintaining positive relationships with the local community in a manner that is aligned with customer objectives and sustainability standards, and which facilitates project execution.

 

The SCE Lead will support our customer in the areas of external communications, including media relations and crisis communications. They will also be responsible for internal project communications requirements, which includes generating compelling stories and content for internal and external channels, managing Bechtel media relations requirements. The role demands a proactive and strategic approach to stakeholder engagement and the effective communication of project progress, impact, and values. #LI-AM3

Major Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact with the customer’s community, stakeholder engagement, and communications teams, fostering strong relationships and open dialogue.
  • Develop and execute engagement strategies to build trust, address community concerns, and support project delivery in compliance with contractual and sustainability commitments.
  • Work with project team members to facilitate timely, transparent communication between the team and project stakeholders, ensuring that stakeholder needs, feedback, and issues are appropriately managed and resolved.
  • Work with the customer to agree roles and mechanics of the community grievance mechanism and develop/implement the project grievance management procedure.
  • Monitor public sentiment and community feedback, communicating relevant information to project leadership. Takes initiative to propose activities to address pertinent stakeholder concerns to project leadership and customer.
  • Collaborate with project leadership and other functional teams to align engagement and communications strategies with broader project objectives.
  • Maintain records of outreach activities, stakeholder contacts, and communications initiatives for reporting and compliance purposes.
  • Lead project sustainability initiatives and reporting requirements, supported by GBU sustainability.
  • Create engaging stories and informative content for diverse platforms, including newsletters, SharePoint, websites, press releases, and social media, to highlight the project’s progress and impact.
  • Support media relations, including responding to media inquiries, preparing press materials, and maintaining relationships with local and regional media outlets under the direction of/in collaboration with the GBU/corporate communications and the customer.
  • Support crisis communications to ensure consistent, accurate messaging during incidents or emergencies, working with GBU/corporate teams and the customer.
  • Represent the project at community events, stakeholder meetings, and public forums as required.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences – e.g. communications, public relations, political science, or related field and 8-10  years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in stakeholder management, community engagement, or project communications preferably on large infrastructure or energy projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience creating content for a range of channels and audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, ability to listen and collaborate in seeking solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience with media relations and preferably, crisis communications planning.
  • Proficiency in relevant digital tools and platforms (e.g., SharePoint, social media, newsletters)
  • Familiar with IAP2, professional certification a plus.

 

Other Requirements

  • Travel to community locations required.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends on occasion, to support engagement activities and events.
