Project Overview:
The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S.
This project is of significant scale and complexity, and our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery next year. The candidate will be the Project Field Superintendent on the upcoming project. The candidate may start in the home office in Reston, VA prior to mobilization to Cheyenne, WY. While in Reston you will support preconstruction planning, ahead of project mobilization to the field when the candidate will locate on a long-term assignment to Cheyenne, Wyoming. This position is contingent upon project award.
Job Summary:
The Project Field Superintendent is responsible for supervising and directing craft operations for the project. You will have direct contact and coordination with the local trade unions and will be responsible for maintaining those relationships. They will supervise and direct Craft activities, subordinate superintendents, and others, as assigned. They will ensure assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance is in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budget. They will perform general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions. #LI-SP1
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience
Major Responsibilities:
Leadership / Supervision
- Proactively engages with their team's development through CPM, Competency development/assessment and feedback
- Supervises and directs craft activities, subordinate superintendents, and others, as assigned.
- Provides input and recommendations to the Proposal team in support of project logistics, temporary infrastructure and workflow management to support the development of the project site infrastructure and
- associated distributable.
- Reviews and supports the development of FNM staffing requirements to establish a complete and efficient staffing profile for the Project's construction phase.
- Provides advice and guidance required to ensure successful craft management has been fully addressed in the site management strategy.
Planning / Productivity
- Determines workforce requirements.
- Prepares reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecast.
Tools, Materials & Equipment
- Monitors tool and equipment usage on the site.
- Prepares Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables and ensures that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.
- Supports the review and recommendations for tools and equipment during the Proposal phase, including reviews with BED to address Project execution planning requirements.

- Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors' performance are in compliance with specifications Responsible for the implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned operations.
- Monitors work activities and ensures the quality of work performed.
- Develop and own the project’s Construction Equipment Schedule
Technical
- Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents
- Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
- Works with the assigned Construction representative and the wider Proposal team to review, develop or produce documentation to support proposal deliverables
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Established performance capabilities as a Lead Discipline Superintendent, Area Field Superintendent, or Project Field Superintendent.
- Detailed knowledge of combined cycle power projects and the challenges therein, ideally having participated in 3+ past projects
- A clear communicator, able to articulate challenges and strategies to address risk and improve performance
- Experience in the management of US based direct-hire projects. Knowledge of Union based projects and execution desirable.
- A knowledge of points of execution risk for combined cycle power projects
- A desire to implement strategies to improve project performance
- Possessing an open and approachable character, willing to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders during the development stage
- Direct experience in executing or managing multiple disciplines (i.e. Civil, Piping, Electrical, l&C, etc)
- Previous knowledge of applicable codes and standards associated with power plants (ASME Section I, ASME B31.1, ACI, NFPA 70E, etc).
