Project Overview:

The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S.

This project is of significant scale and complexity, and our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery this year.

The candidate will act as the Area Superintendent on the upcoming Project. The candidate may start in the home office in Reston, Houston or Cheyenne, Wyoming, as single status, to support preconstruction planning, ahead of project mobilization to the field when the candidate will locate on a long-term assignment to Cheyenne, Wyoming. This position is contingent upon project award.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead a team and supervise superintendents and/or craft professionals on a project. You will direct craft professional activities and work schedules, and coordinate subcontract work activities and team development. Your oversight will ensure craft professionals have the tools required to be productive, comply with project policies, procedures, and job site work rules and procedures, and perform within specifications, schedules and budgets. You will supervise the team responsible for the installation of underground commodities sitewide.  You will report to the Area Manager - Undergrounds.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Leadership / Supervision

    • Supervises and directs craft activities, subordinate superintendents, and others, as assigned. (Direct Hire) 
    • Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by each craft. (Direct Hire) 

    Planning / Productivity 

    • Determines workforce requirements.  
    • Coordinates established area operational plans.  

    Tools, Materials & Equipment 

    • Oversees tool and equipment usage on the site.   
    • Manages the preparation of Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables and ensures that the craft professionals have the tools they require to be productive.  

    Safety & Quality 

    • Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.  
    • Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.   

    Technical 

    • Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents 
    • Manages engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and  Craft Professionals. 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management or other relevant technical disciplines from an accredited university (or international equivalent), plus a minimum of 10-13+ years of relevant work experience; or 14+ years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction engineering practices related to all disciplines.
  • Demonstrated planning and scheduling, procurement, and contracting experience.
  • Maintain, promote and cultivate a safe work ethic and work environment within the craft
  • Able to work extended work schedules and night shift as required to support the project execution plans and schedules.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H). Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.
  • Extensive experience in civil construction of large projects.
  • Experience with underground HDPE piping / PIVs, fuel gas Piping, conduit, duct banks, grounding grids and cathodic protection.
  • Minimum of 9 years’ experience in field supervision on direct hire work
  • Sound understanding of performance management processes.
  • Advanced understanding of production management including scheduling.
  • Advanced communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of cost management including estimating and forecast development.
  • Previous experience in supervision of National Building Trades (union) construction is preferable.
  • Previous experience supervising various disciplines (i.e Civil, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical) is dersirable.
