Job Summary:
The Craft-Based Leadership (CBL) Coordinator oversees the behavior-based safety program, which employs observation and constructive feedback by trained craft observers (workers). This program aims to assist craft peers in promoting safe work practices across a project. The CBL process supports the concept of “courageous leadership” by empowering and encouraging craft employees to take responsibility for the ESH aspects of their work environment. The role necessitates the practical application of occupational safety and associated disciplines to manage the safety and health aspects on a project or facility. This position reports to the ESH Services Manager or the Project ESH Manager. #LI-AE2
Major Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver the CBL program aligned with the culture and capabilities of workers.
- Create and implement a CBL training program for all project levels.
- Train the CBL team on the objectives of the CBL process and effective observation and feedback skills.
- Lead the CBL team in observation and feedback, develop actions, and communicate results to the project team.
- Review reports for quality of observations and improvement opportunities.
- Refine and adapt the CBL program through the various project stages.
- Oversee the implementation of the CBL program and report on its successes and areas needing improvement.
- Openly communicate with field leaders and project ESH Manager on CBL matters.
- Maintain a working relationship with observers, field leaders and other ESH team members.
- Attend observer meetings to address issues using observation data and CBL requirements.
- Complete CBL data entry and the development of data reports.
- Maintain CBL reports and records.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) in occupational safety, health, or behavioral science-related discipline from an accredited university or college; or an Associate’s degree (or equivalent) in one of the same disciplines with 2 or more years of relevant experience; or 4 or more years of relevant safety or health, or training experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- A Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) in occupational safety, health, or behavioral science-related discipline from an accredited university or college; or an Associate’s degree (or equivalent) in one of the same disciplines with 2 or more years of relevant experience; or 4 or more years of relevant safety or health, or training experience.
- Ability to research and comprehend organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective computer skills for preparing presentations, data management, and report preparation.
- Effective problem-solving skills to identify safety issues and implement effective solutions.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with employees at all levels of the project organization
- Ability to plan and coordinate work requiring independent judgement and experience.
- Adaptable and able to work outdoors in a field environment under various weather conditions.
- Ability to support multiple work shifts, as needed, and a wide range of tasks.
- Valid driver’s license.
