Job Summary:
Bechtel’s Infrastructure business is hiring a Business Development professional with experience in the North American market. The Business Development specialist is responsible for assisting the Business Development Manager, with stakeholder identification and relationship management and market / prospect penetration, covering both government and commercial sector customers and multiple project delivery models; assisting with market research, competitor analysis, potential partners identification and engagement; and leading the tracking of procurement trends and legislative / regulatory changes, report writing and assisting in the development of presentations and proposals. The role will have primary responsibility for customer relationship and account management to identify, evaluate, and develop new opportunities, mostly in public infrastructure sectors. Willingness to travel frequently but not for extended periods to engage directly with customers is required.

Major Responsibilities:
- Builds and maintains personal relationships with key contacts, customer organizations, strategic vendors, and partners.
- Connects Bechtel to the marketplace; Actively builds a personal network.
- Keeps informed of customers' present and future plans for growth, projects, and programmatic and technical requirements.
- Demonstrates—using personal knowledge, supplemented by other Bechtel personnel—how Bechtel and help customers achieve their objectives.
- Develops bid and proposal strategies.
- Recommends teaming requirements.
- Develops and implements win plan recommendations.
- Prepares and manages proposal budgets.
- Sets the story line for proposals and actively manages their development.
- Actively participates in industry and trade associations
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience. Prior Bechtel experience required.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization, resolves a wide range of complex issues in creative and effective ways.
- Excellent communication skills including: English verbal and written skills.
- Customer Engagement: Own and develop deep customer relationships; serve as the trusted advisor and primary point of contact. Act as the internal voice of the customer, providing insights across the full client organization. Demonstrate strong listening, communication, and emotional intelligence to build trust and influence stakeholders. Understand customer needs, buying behaviors, and decision drivers to shape strategic opportunities.
- Performance Excellence: Apply strong market, industry, and competitor knowledge to identify and position winning opportunities. Think strategically about where to play and how to win; drive pursuit strategies to secure work. Lead outcome-driven planning by connecting complex inputs into actionable strategies. Demonstrate commercial, financial, and legal acumen, including contracting models, risk allocation, and funding approaches. Leverage project experience and organizational knowledge to develop competitive solutions.
