Today, our colleague's team with customers, partners, and suppliers on diverse projects in nearly 40 countries.  The Infrastructure Global Business Unit (GBU) is executing site civil and marine scopes of work associated with our scopes of work on the Energy GBU LNG projects. The candidate will serve as the Work Packaging Lead on the upcoming Rio Grande LNG project. The work location is Brownsville, TX. This position is contingent upon project award. 


Role Overview:

Assigned to the Infrastructure Construction Team as the Work Packaging Lead. Responsible for the generation and closure of Installation Work Packages (IWPs). The Work Packaging Lead reports directly to the Infrastructure Area Field Engineer and is responsible for all items related to IWPs. 



The key roles and responsibilities include:

  • Understand work packaging philosophy, scope of civil/marine installation, Work Breakdown Structure and assist Field Engineering team in preparing, scoping and sequencing of Installation Work Packages (IWPs).
  • Develop project specific procedure for development of Infrastructure civil and marine IWPs in an electronic format that includes all current relevant documentation (drawings, specs and ITPs) and ensures electronic closure of IWPs processing into Infrastructure project turnover books.
  • Manages the work packaging process in accordance with project procedures ensuring a consistent understandable approach to work packaging.
  • Lead the Field Engineering team in preparation of detailed Installation Work Package (IWPs) as per the project guidelines and procedures, which includes compiling installation drawings, specifications, installation details, model snapshots, Job Hazard Analyses, materials status reports, inspection test records, or any other documents or Engineering deliverables associated with the Infrastructure IWPs.
  • Ensure Field Engineering team is producing various other construction engineering deliverables like material takeoffs of bulk materials and vendor supplied components and bulks; upload material take-off quantities and other attributes of Installation Work Packages into the TEAMWorks database or project specific database
  • Assist Field Engineering team in preparation of electronic work packages and method statements for all Infrastructure civil and marine works.  
  • Monitor IWP constraints list and assist Infrastructure construction team in resolution and closure of constraints or engineering issues.
  • Leading weekly meeting on IWP creation and closure 
  • Monitor project schedule and ensure performance and timely delivery of IWPs; coordinate with Project Controls team, planners, other stakeholders on the project and ensure IWPs are issued as per the project priorities
  • Maintaining the IWP skyline in close coordination with the area field engineers and planners
  • Monitor quality of IWPs ensuring scoping and preparation of IWPs is done right the first time
  • Attend progress meetings, maintain effective interface with site management team, client’s organization ensuring IWPs and advance work packaging efforts are effectively delivered on the project.
  • Works with construction automation team to prepare all work packaging reports and status dashboards
  • Actively managing data integrity throughout the construction databases


Qualifications and Skills:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Level One: B.S. Degree in Engineering or similar and 6+ years of experience; or 12+ years related experience and high school diploma/GED in lieu of degree.
  • Level Two: B.S. Degree in Engineering or similar and 9+ years of experience; or 15+ years related experience and high school diploma/GED in lieu of degree.
  • Candidates should be self-starters, highly motivated, requiring little supervision, and able to work well in a team environment.
  • The candidate should have a working knowledge of using 3D Models and databases for the administration of construction projects.
  • The candidate should have in depth knowledge of scoping and preparation of Construction work packages.
  • 5 to 10 years of years of industry experience in Engineering and Construction
  • Working experience at the jobsites as a Field Engineer, Construction Engineer on large OG&C projects.
  • Proficient in reading drawings, construction schedules, specifications and industry standards and codes.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to lead the field engineering team in work packaging and sequencing. 
  • Proficient MS Office applications and other applications such as TeamWorks, Completions and BookBuilder.
  • Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs which may require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, using fall protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE), walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, and maneuvering around very small and/or confined spaces
