Project Overview:

Bechtel is partnering with NextDecade to Buttress their vision to provide the world access to lower carbon intensive energy with their Rio Grande LNG (RGLNG) project in Brownsville, Texas.

RGLNG is a natural gas liquefaction and export terminal situated on a 984-acre site on the banks of the Brownsville ship channel. The first phase of the RGLNG project consists of three liquefaction trains, two storage tanks and one marine berth. At full capacity, the five-train facility will have a production capacity of 27 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).

Job Summary:

In this role, you will monitor and organize subcontractor planning, safety, quality, and technical activities on a complex project with multiple stakeholders’ involvement, through the coordination and instruction of subcontractor’s management staff. Your field supervision will help ensure operations are planned to coincide with overall established schedules and that work methods are planned and executed safely. #LI-TH1

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and organizes subcontractor activities, through coordination and instruction of subcontractor’s management staff within the area of responsibility.  
  • Role aid on mid-size projects of medium to high complexity with multiple stakeholders’ involvement. 

Planning:

  • Monitors subcontractor construction schedules, resource charts, and material and equipment requirements. 
  • Reviews subcontractor construction methods, schedules, operate charts, and material and equipment requirements. 
  • Sync the construction operations impact on external interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules. 

Safety / Quality:

  • Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements 
  • Enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management. 

Technical:

  • Buttress Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents 
  • Sync engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals. 
  • Sync with Design on constructability issues.  

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of a single or multi-discipline construction or engineering operation.
  • Knowledge of Bechtel’s Zero Accident Philosophy. 
  • Knowledge of the Project ES&H Handbook, the Supervisors ES&H Manual, the Project Safety Management Plan and the Bechtel Core Processes.
  • Knowledge of the Six Sigma program tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities.
  • Knowledge of Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs).
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
  • Knowledge of the use of subcontracts, and the contractor and subcontractor’s responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
  • Experience working with, supervising and supervise subcontractors and/or Direct Hire workforce.
  • Knowledge is normally acquired through: A recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, or
  • Specialized courses in construction technology and management, and/or
  • Prior practical work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge described above
