Project Overview:

Bechtel is partnering with NextDecade to support their vision to provide the world access to lower carbon intensive energy with their Rio Grande LNG (RGLNG) project in Brownsville, Texas. RGLNG is a natural gas liquefaction and export terminal situated on a 984-acre site on the banks of the Brownsville ship channel. The first phase of the RGLNG project consists of three liquefaction trains, two storage tanks and two marine berth. At full capacity, the five-train facility will have a production capacity of 27 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).

Job Summary:

In this role, you play a pivotal role in supporting the execution of resident engineering and construction activities related to multiple disciplines. Your technical guidance and recommendations will ensure engineering aspects meet design intent, project specifications, and applicable codes. This position is designed to extend the reach of the Resident Engineering Manager and ensure seamless coordination across disciplines.

Major Responsibilities:

• Assisting the construction team in developing design changes to resolve field problems. Resident Engineers will be able to provide firsthand assistance in finding problem solutions. Resident Engineers approve Field Change Documents (FCDs) and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), obtaining Client approvals as necessary.
• Provide clarification on Engineering drawings and specifications, answering Requests for Information (RFIs)
• Provide technical direction and guidance to subcontractors who are performing design during the Construction phase of the subcontract, including document review where agreed with the home office
• Coordinate technical specialist support, such as MET, and design support with home office.
• Assurance that FCDs do not conflict with the intent of the design.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience, or 12-14 years of relevant work experience, preferably in LNG​.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong understanding of the project specific Electrical and Control Systems deliverables.
• Strong understanding of engineering work planning and control methods.
• Familiarity with construction practices, regulatory codes, and Bechtel standards.
• Proficiency in project management tools and field inspection protocols.
• Ability to conduct field walks and inspections under varying site conditions.
• Climbing ladders/scaffolding and working in confined spaces.
• Must be able to wear and use appropriate PPE for assigned tasks
