Project Overview:

Bechtel is partnering with NextDecade to support their vision to provide the world access to lower carbon intensive energy with their Rio Grande LNG (RGLNG) project in Brownsville, Texas.

RGLNG is a natural gas liquefaction and export terminal situated on a 984-acre site on the banks of the Brownsville ship channel. The first phase of the RGLNG project consists of three liquefaction trains, two storage tanks and one marine berth. At full capacity, the five-train facility will have a production capacity of 27 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).

Job Summary:

In this role, you will be responsible for estimating, analysis and control activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements or for cost activities which require a high degree of technical skill. You will assist in cost studies, cost trends, and assist in implementing project requirements for cost control. Your detailed analysis will provide innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges. #LI-CS1

Major Responsibilities:

• Performs generally non-routine cost estimating, analysis, and control activities.  
• Assists in the development and accuracy of cost reports.
• Verifies consistency with previous reports to ensure compatibility and consistency 
• Assist in preparing specific budgets in accordance with prescribed standards and procedures.
• Investigates the requirements for estimating and/or cost control data.
• Collects and classifies cost data.
• Performs budget allocation and reporting/cost control regime for specific construction discipline or group of disciplines.
• Identifies cost trends for management attention.
• Assists in preparing cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 0-2 years of relevant experience or 2-4 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing cost engineering functions, which include cost estimating, cost control, and cost analysis, in the field and the home office.
• Statistical knowledge in the areas of sampling, distributions, probability, and hypothesis testing for metrics.
• Skilled in oral and written communication.
• Proficiency with PC operating systems, with proficiency in several basic software applications. Proficiency with multiple discipline specific software applications currently used in Bechtel (Microsoft Office Applications, for example).
• Intermediate level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes, as performed by Bechtel.
• Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
