Project Overview:

Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets. 

 

Headquartered in Santiago, Chile, the M&M global business unit also has offices in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia along with execution units in the United States, Peru, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India and other project locations around the world.

 

Job Summary:

In this role, you will manage a project’s supply chain operations and its assigned Supply Chain personnel to establish and implement the procurement and subcontract planning, acquisition, order administration, and delivery of goods and/or services. Your team will execute the project Supply Chain plan, ensuring the monitoring of safety, quality, cost, and performance and that all contractual duties and obligations are met by all parties to each purchase order and subcontract.

 

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Participates with the project team on a large sized project in defining and developing the scope of work, and in preparing and coordinating Supply Chain plans, procedures, schedules, estimates, forecasts, and budgets or manages project Supply Chain (procurement and/or subcontracts) functional personnel in all operations for a small to medium sized project 
  • Identifies opportunities for revenue enhancement, schedule relief and claim avoidance and takes appropriate actions to protect Bechtel's interest and/or improve performance 
  • Ensures the monitoring of safety, quality, cost, and performance and that all contractual duties and obligations are met by all parties to each purchase order and subcontract 
  • Establishes and implements procurement and/or subcontract formation, administration, delivery, and quality programs, and ensures compliance to applicable Bechtel policies and procedures
  • Develops and implements the Supply Chain staffing plan and facilitates training, technical guidance, and development to Supply Chain staff assigned to the project
  • Participates in business line and project related meetings, works closely with Business Unit and Project Management, Construction, Engineering, Project Controls, Finance, Legal and Risk
  • Execute to the project plan, prepares strategic recommendations for contracting for major materials and services, taking into consideration legal, commercial, and financial factors
  • Participates in the development of Project Proposals, sourcing strategies, Supply Chain Execution Plans and development of qualified Bidders list
  • Ensures the monitoring of safety, quality, cost, and performance and that all contractual duties and obligations are met by all parties to each purchase order and subcontracts

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Extensive experience in Supply Chain Management on EPCM Projects i.e. contracts and procurement management across a range of engineered equipment, goods, materials, services, materials management, and field procurement.
  • Extensive experience in project setup, including building a team, developing project specific templates, developing project execution strategy etc
  • Demonstrated skills in developing and upskilling team members, working and communicating effectively with all levels of project functional groups.
  • Experience dealing with Chinese suppliers. Experience negotiating agreements with suppliers nationally and offshore.
