Project Overview:
Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets. Headquartered in Santiago, Chile, the M&M global business unit also has offices in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia along with execution units in the United States, Peru, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India and other project locations around the world.
This role is offered on a FIFO basis to North Queensland, operating on a 2:1 roster
Job Summary:
The Craft Supervisor - Cranes and Rigging will be responsible for executing work assignments as requested by the Area Superintendents. Scope includes the support of module setting, advanced rigging, and SMP E&I related lifting scopes.
Major Responsibilities:
- Maintains contact with Engineering regarding plant layout, foundation design, vessel/module designs, provision for lifting, and verification of the suitability of imposed loadings.
- Must have sound knowledge and experience in RT, all terrain and crawler cranes.
- Structural, Piping, Mechanical and complex lifting installation experience.
- Assists with maintaining contact with Traffic & Logistics regarding feasibility of heavy/oversize haul and barging/heavy-lift shipping and marine operations, temporary dock facilities and haul routes to site.
- Works with vendors and subcontractors, providing subject matter expertise in meetings and reviews regarding the execution of subcontract lifting and/or heavy oversized site transport.
- Maintains contact with permitting authorities and other government and regulatory agencies and statutory authorities regarding transport and/or lifting of equipment.
- Works with rigging engineers in the preparation of conceptual (and working) lift and transport studies.
- Assesses and plans crane and heavy transport requirements and assists in the preparation of the Construction Equipment Schedule (CES)
- Reviews and approves medium and critical lift and transport studies. Develops rigging training courses for site personnel as required.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Knowledge of a single or multi-discipline function/s in construction or engineering environments relating to field/site-based activities.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of a single or multi-discipline function/s in construction or engineering environments relating to field/site-based activities.
- Experience in supervision or leading a team within Oil and Gas OR heavy industrial environment preferred.
- Knowledge of/willingness to commit to Bechtel’s Zero Accident Philosophy.
- Knowledge of/willingness to commit to the Project ES&H Handbook, the Supervisors ES&H Manual, the Project Safety Management Plan and the Bechtel Core Processes.
- Analytical and strategic planning: able to prioritize and balance short-term and long-term priorities.
- Knowledge of Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs).
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
