Job Summary:

In this role, you will conduct field investigations and special studies for process/chemical design for large projects. You will lead the design, development, modification, and evaluation of components and processes used in process/chemical for projects with unique requirements. Your coordination will ensure that complex technical issues are resolved, clients are satisfied, and project needs are met. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plans and conducts independent scope of work and technical specifications for process/chemical design and field investigations on large size projects or assignments in support of a global business unit​  
  • Leads the design, development, modification and evaluation of components and processes used in process/chemical utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard programs (BSAPs)​.  Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data​ 
  • Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management​ 
  • Develops conceptual designs for Process/Chemical engineering projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements​ 
  • Supports preparation of estimates, staffing needs and schedules​ 
  • Interviews client personnel to determine their needs, develops scope for cost estimates for services and participates in proposal preparation and presentation​ 
  • Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting​ 
  • Coordinates with client representatives, as directed, to obtain their approval of Process/Chemical aspects of the work​ 
  • Conducts or leads special studies of new Process/Chemical engineering methods, materials and techniques​ 
  • Mentors Process/Chemical engineering personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development​. Provides input to and participates in special technical educational and training programs as directed 
  • Conduct safety, environmental, and operational reviews (HAZOP, HAZID).
  • Generate operational readiness and commissioning documents.

 

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Commissioning experience and plant ramp-up of a mineral processing operation.
  • Process software simulation tool knowledge including JKSimMET, Bruno, and others.
  • Understand testwork requirements and results.
  • Equipment selection and sizing.
  • Cost evaluation (Opex and Capex).
  • Thorough understanding of scientific engineering systems, calculations, applications and construction methods and materials, and engineering or scientific application of computers.
  • Understanding of industrial and regulatory standards and design criteria in the engineering or scientific discipline.
  • Knowledge of sector-related design and execution practices and cost influences involved.
  • Advanced level of verbal and written communication skills.
  • Global proven experience for Copper Concentrators
