Job Summary:

As Payroll Lead Accountant, you will ensure financial processes for office teams are completed.

You will prepare routine reports, office correspondence, tax related journal vouchers, and translate local legal ledgers. You will execute payment instructions, send payment confirmations, and support vendor supplier setup.

Your assistance will help project accounting teams solve complex transaction queries and process issues.  

Major Responsibilities:

  • Performing routine accounting and or transactional tasks. 
  • Requires process orientated decision making, like performing final invoice steps, in close coordination with internal teams and external parties. 
  • Prepares routine audit schedules and information. 
  • Preparing indirect tax returns for small entities. 
  • Acts as Petty Cash Custodian and prepares supporting transaction documents and replenishment forms. 
  • Prepares and submits accounting journal entries. 
  • Other responsibilities as designated.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Broad understanding of local payroll and with experience desirable in the end-to-end payroll function. A willingness to learn and understand payroll processing, employer compliance and related accounting as applicable to Bechtel’s various in-country payrolls is essential.
  • Experience of working in a small integrated team supporting the Bechtel businesses, working with remote and hybrid teams will be considered an advantage.
  • Experience with SAP, and Oracle ERP system is desirable.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A sound level of proficiency with MS Excel.
  • Prior working experience with working in a large, complex multinational corporate and dealing with Australian employer compliance requirements would be considered advantageous.
