Project Overview:

Bechtel continues to deliver world-class projects across Australia, focusing on sustaining production, minimizing environmental impact, and supporting regional economic development. Our expertise plays a key role in strengthening long-term relationships with local communities and stakeholders. In order to facilitate the successful delivery of current and upcoming projects, Bechtel is seeking to appoint a Senior Planner to join our Brisbane office.

Job Summary:

As the Senior Project Planner, you will be responsible for leading all planning and scheduling activities across the project lifecycle. In addition, you will provide support to project organizational and administrative functions as required.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate proven expertise in identifying, analysing, and delivering innovative solutions to complex planning and scheduling challenges. In this role, you will collaborate closely with project teams to develop and prepare schedule data for proposals and contract negotiations. Responsibilities will include applying established unit job hour and pricing data, performing schedule integrations, developing detailed work logic, identifying constraints and potential impacts, preparing recovery plans, and assessing subcontractor schedules to drive performance improvements.

You will play a critical role in ensuring projects are delivered on time and aligned with overall project objectives.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Receives day to day guidance from the Project Controls Manager but will be responsible for supporting the project office and site office will all planning / scheduling resources and output deliverables.
  • Provides inputs, guidance and recommendations for planning / scheduling requirements relative to staffing and project control. Prepares detailed staffing plans for planning / scheduling activities.
  • Coordinate’s scheduling and planning inputs from all functions to ensure a robust and achievable schedule is prepared.
  • Integrates interdisciplinary schedule requirements and constraints to establish logical work sequences for assigned disciplines or specialties. 
  • Develops commodity release and installation curves as applicable. 
  • Review’s schedule data and identifies and acquires the information needed to complete work logics to interface across all aspects of the project.
  • Determines activities and identifies overall critical path (primary and secondary) together with near term critical path items.
  • Monitors schedule deviation for all scopes of work, disciplines or specialties including subcontractor submittals, and recommends corrective action/workaround solutions for project considerations.
  • Develops and writes the schedule commentary that appears in the monthly progress and similar reports

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience and demonstrated skill in completing and directing project planning / scheduling activities across a broad range of civil, SMP, E&I work tasks together with interfaces with approvals, operations & maintenance and owners team interfaces

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficiency in using PC operating systems and multi discipline specific software applications (Primavera P6, Microsoft applications).
  • Skilled in oral and written communication, with demonstrated ability to present Project Controls information to management/client.
  • Demonstrated skill in identifying, analysing, and solving problems.
  • Advanced level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up work processes, as performed by Bechtel.
  •  Knowledge of current industry and technical developments
