Job Summary:

The Senior Financial Analyst will report to the Infrastructure Finance Manager and Assistant Finance Manager in supporting Infrastructure projects located in Australia and other Asia Pacific Regions (APAC). The role will be responsible for project finance & accounting execution, direct support and oversite for projects across business lines with varying size, duration and execution strategy. The role will be work closely with the Australia based project accounting teams, business development and Infrastructure GBU leadership in the region. The role may require possible travel to jobsite locations in Australia. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and accommodate communication across various time zones.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Establishes financial and administrative controls for the Projects, including JV’s, in accordance with Bechtel policies and procedures and client's requirements.
  • Responsible for Project/JV books of accounts, including general ledger, subsidiary ledgers, and detailed job cost and commitment ledgers.
  • Train and support Project Accounting teams located in Australia.
  • Provides analysis of financial information, estimates of costs, and preparation of forecasts and ad-hoc management reporting.
  • Leads and facilitates the annual external audit of the Infrastructure Australia projects
  • Manages and supports project billings ensuring invoices are prepared in accordance with contractual terms of the assigned project’s prime contract.
  • Monitors accounts receivable and payables to ensure prompt payments are made and received.
  • Responds to our client's inquiries and audits related to finance-related matters and works with client representatives to interpret provisions of contracts as it relates to accounting.
  • Collaborates effectively with Corporate Finance, Tax, Treasury and BBS.
  • Communicates effectively with Infrastructure GBU management, functions and project teams.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13  years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of organizational structure, policies and procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the execution of project accounting.
  • Experience with developing joint venture procedures and the execution of joint venture accounting.
  • Ability to analyze financial data, provide early recognition of potential problems and provide effective and innovative thought processes in handling complex financial issues/problems.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and financial issues including an understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Experience and proficiency in basic accounting functions such as payroll, payables, receivables, billing and financial accounting. Skill in analyzing and problem-solving techniques as applied to accounting.
  • Excellent skills in working and communicating effectively both orally and in writing with internal and external personnel.
  • Very proficient in computer applications and common software products. Able to develop complex spreadsheets with complex formulas, macros and ad hoc report writing.
