Job Summary:

In this role, you will manage direct reports and lead interdisciplinary teams to establish construction methods and support activities where you will oversee the construction process, review plans and specifications for costs and constructability, manage corporate processes and procedures, and lead proposal preparation.

 

Your recommendations for studies, lessons learned, project assessments, and new methods will optimize completion of project construction activities. 

 

"This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership".


Major Responsibilities:

Grade 28

Chief Construction Engineer 

  • Develops and recommends the construction staffing plan for approval by Manager of Construction and prepares employee requisitions. 
  • Directs construction activities of the assigned GBU construction staff, ensuring compliance with GBU Quality Management System    

 

Construction Operations Manager 

  • Provides consultation, technical guidance and direction to Construction and other support functions 
  • Manages the successful completion of activities related to the construction of assigned projects 
  • Assists in development of standard construction method   
  • Oversees the review of standard plans and specifications for constructability 
  • Reviews and evaluates new methods and concepts  

 

Grade 29

Chief Construction Engineer 

  • Provides consultation, technical guidance and direction to Construction and other support functions 
  • Manages successful completion of activities related to the construction of assigned projects 
  • Assists in development of standard construction method   
  • Oversees the review of standard plans and specifications for constructability 
  • Reviews and evaluates new methods and concepts  

 

Construction Operations Manager 

  • Leads in proposal preparation 
  • Reviews construction estimates, budgets, forecasts, schedules, and costs for acceptability 
     


Education and Experience Requirements:

Grade 28

  • Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience

Grade 29

  • Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 15+ years of relevant experience or 19+ years of relevant work experience


 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Thorough knowledge of all phases of construction operations relating to field activities, field engineering disciplines, construction technologies and project management.

  • Extensive understanding of government compliance standards.
  • Familiarity with National Codes and Standards as they relate to construction.
  • Thorough knowledge of BSAP and utilization of field automation tools.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Bechtel Construction Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPP).
  • Knowledge of the Six Sigma program and the IMAIC process (Identify, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control).
  • Recognition as a leader in the industry with a proven track record of successful management of construction projects.
  • A recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, or
  • Specialized courses in construction management and/or extensive actual work experience leading to the thorough understanding of the knowledge described above.
