Project Overview:

Bechtel helps customers deliver projects of purpose that create a lasting positive legacy globally. These large, complex and multi-disciplined projects create jobs, grow economies and provide opportunities for local and regional communities.

 

The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world-class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea.

 

Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure. Bechtel is providing these EPC services across all disciplines and functions for this exciting capital project.

Job Summary:

As Quality Lead, you will develop, maintain, and verify implementation of the quality activities of a project assignment. You will manage and coordinate the project quality program/plan activities with input from the functions in engineering, supply chain, construction and commissioning, and maintain client liaison and communication.


"This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership."

Major Responsibilities:

  • Direct quality activities on the project, communicating with engineering, procurement, construction, administrative services, commissioning, and other project personnel
  • Review and approve quality‑related procedures prepared on the project to ensure compliance with the quality program/plan.
  • Represent the project during quality assurance audits
  • Reviews project schedules for quality‑related activities to ensure timely and effective implementation of the project quality plan requirements.
  • Coordinates to ensure Quality objectives are maintained through the close working relationship with other key customers
  • Applies knowledge of quality engineering methodologies
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of corrective actions and process improvement activities.
  • Defines and implements quality system tools and procedures
  • Maintains quality metrics/goals for the project and provides performance feedback.
  • Develops and implements key quality management system elements and tools.Supervises and participates in the project auditing and monitoring program 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Degree in an engineering, science, or technical discipline and with extensive industry experience with demonstrated leadership component and/or quality assurance program management experience in the construction or closely related industry;
  • Or in lieu of a degree, extensive industry experience with demonstrated leadership component and/or quality assurance program management experience in the construction or closely related industry.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Lead Auditor certification from an accredited body (or experienced in Auditing) with demonstrated knowledge of quality assurance requirements, and proficiency in implementation and management of quality assurance programs.
  • Successful track record of leading teams in complex environments and leadership in management of change initiatives.
  • Knowledge of advanced techniques for assessment, event investigation, cause analysis, human performance, and corrective action.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of design, procurement, construction, start-up, commissioning, and operation
  • Working Rights in Australia without employer sponsorship are required.
