Project Overview:
After more than 35 years operating as a successful uranium mine, the Ranger Project is entering its rehabilitation stage.
Bechtel will be working alongside ERA and major stakeholder Rio Tinto to restore the land to the status of its surrounding World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park. A collaborative project, this project will be developed in consultation with the Mirarr Traditional Owners and will benefit the Jabiru community.

Job Summary:
In this role, you will be responsible for procurement activities for the Ranger Rehabilitation Project. You will direct negotiations, solve problems, and communicate with suppliers to ensure compliance with purchase order requirements and achieve the required service to meet project needs. As part of the role, you will also be responsible for some contract administration duties of your assigned contracts.
Major Responsibilities:
- Prepares, maintains, and monitors project bidder’s lists, ensuring input is received from all technical functions and other operational groups
- Forms, issues, and administers purchase orders
- Directs negotiations in the commitment of purchases, following review and approval of the proposed negotiating plan by the designated supervisor
- Maintains working relationships with project Procurement personnel and other project discipline supervisors in order to be cognizant of project operations and to implement appropriate actions on behalf of the Purchasing function.
- Maintains relationships with supplier personnel in order to resolve specific project supplier problems, to be aware of current market conditions, and to inform the suppliers, when necessary, of the overall project requirements.
- Requirement to form & administer supplier and subcontractor agreements, including scope preparation, procurement, schedules, forecasting, subcontractor management, and progress claims/ variation assessments
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Extensive experience in project procurement management i.e., purchasing and expediting
- Extensive experience in purchasing wide range of engineered equipment and materials, demonstrated experience in purchasing complex pumping systems is desirable
- Experience working with suppliers nationally and offshore
- Extensive experience in negotiating terms and conditions.
- Proficiency and experience in the formation and administration of purchase orders and contracts through the several steps of bidder prequalification, compilation of bid requests, receipt of bids, bid evaluation, award, monitoring the performance of suppliers and buyers, backcharge procedures, resolution of claims and disputes, and other such related steps.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Thorough understanding of project management and contracts and procurement concepts.
