Project Overview:

Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets.

Headquartered in Santiago, Chile, the M&M global business unit also has offices in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia along with execution units in the United States, Peru, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India and other project locations around the world.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will be required to work on small to medium sized orders to support office services and other functions within the business, to tender, award and administer packages required. You will prepare request for tenders, administer monitor areas of subcontract performance, and inquire on and investigate subcontract problems. Your work will contribute to efficient project execution and compliance with contractual obligations.

 

Major Responsibilities:

Subcontract Management

  • Acts on own initiative on assigned subcontracts of increasing value and complexity
  • Gathers and compiles support data for the preparation of documents and the management of subcontracts
  • Undertake various tasks required by the Contract/Subcontract Management Guidebook, Standard Work Process Procedures, and automated subcontract management systems 
  • Organizes materials for the preparation of meetings, presentations, and training sessions, and prepares periodic status reports 

Subcontract Formation 

  • Develops and issues subcontracts and services agreements as assigned 
  • Prepares bidders’ lists and pre-qualifies bidders 
  • Forms bid request packages and issues bid request packages to approved bidders 
  • Coordinates bidders’ questions and answers to those questions 
  • Receives bids and evaluates bids commercially 
  • Prepares Commercial Bid Summary and recommendations 
  • Recommends and secures approvals in accordance with established procedures 
  • Prepares subcontract documents for execution 
  • Prepares and organizes assigned meetings, such as pre-bid, bid clarification and pre-award meetings, for the purpose of ensuring complete understanding and agreement between Bechtel and the contractor on contractual matters 
  • After reviewing plan and agenda with supervisor, conducts meeting and prepares and issues meeting notes delineating important statements, required actions and schedules 
  • Assiss teams in solving and attending to problems on commitments involving monetary expenditure or risk, scope or supplementary commercial conditions

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in engaging with internal stakeholder to managing pre award and post award activities including prequalification, tender, award, contract administration, changes and payment assessments of small orders.
  • Demonstrated skills in working and communicating effectively with other projects and functional groups.
