Project Overview:

Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets.

Headquartered in Santiago, Chile, the M&M global business unit also has offices in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia along with execution units in the United States, Peru, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India and other project locations around the world.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will conduct field investigations and special studies for process/chemical design for large projects. You will lead the design, development, modification, and evaluation of systems, components and processes used in process/chemical for projects with unique requirements.Your technical expericence and coordination will ensure that complex technical issues are resolved, clients are satisfied, and project needs are met. 

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership

Major Responsibilities:

• Evaluates, selects, and applies standard Process/Chemical engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria for a small size project or assignment in support of a global business unit​or staff group to include the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications​ 
• Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates components and processes used in process/chemical utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)​ 
• Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals​ 
• Performs relief system design, including Pressure Safety valve (PSV) sizing, flare hydraulics and radiation analysis​ 
• Performs safety, environmental and operability reviews (HAZOP, CHAP)​ 
• Provides technical assistance to other Process/Chemical personnel and will interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues​ 
• Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project Process/Chemical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution​ 
• Mentors and assists more junior Process/Chemical team members​ 
• Completes Process/Chemical documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance​ 
• Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability​

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10  years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Demonstrated project delivery experience as a Process Engineer for Mining and Metals related processes,
• Experienced with copper concentrators and associated equipment specification
• Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) certification preferred
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team through detailed design phases
