Project Overview:

Bechtel helps customers deliver projects of purpose that create a lasting positive legacy globally. These large, complex, and multi-disciplined projects create jobs, grow economies, and provide opportunities for local and regional communities.

The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world-class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea.

Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure. Bechtel is providing these EPC services across all disciplines and functions for this exciting capital project.

 

Job Summary:

In this role, you will plan, develop, coordinate and review plant design and piping work on large projects having specialized requirements. You will optimize facility layout based on diagrams, client needs, current technology, and operational and maintenance requirements. Your technical input will ensure configuration compliance, procurement requirements are met, and complex issues are resolved

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews plant design and piping engineering work on a medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit​ 
  • Develops conceptual designs for plant design and piping projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements​ 
  • Examines and analyzes pipe configurations for International and Australian code compliance​. Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data​ 
  • Optimizes facility layout based on piping and instrument diagrams, client requirements, current technology, and operational and maintenance requirements​ 
  • Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting​ 
  • Reviews and approves key design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, and change orders, for the project to which assigned​ 
  • Mentors plant design and piping personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development​. Provides input to and participates in special technical educational and training programs as directed​ 
  • Examines and analyzes pipe configurations for code compliance​ 
  • Optimizes facility layout based on piping and instrument diagrams, client requirements, current technology, and operational and maintenance requirements 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10  years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in Piping Stress Analysis using CAESAR II and Pipe Support selection.
  • Strong technical knowledge of construction piping installation, hydrotesting and pneumatic pipe testing, preferred.
  • Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs), including TEAMWorks, Aconex, Unifier, Agile, Navisworks, and other automation tools used on Bechtel projects is preferred.
  • Experience with multi discipline interface management and global 3D model oversight.
  • Expertise in reading, interpreting and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups.
  • Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to design responsibilities.
  • Experience in design and drafting, including demonstrated expertise in a lead role or recognized courses in the directing of personnel.
