Project Overview:

Bechtel Mining & Metals are seeking a Intermediate Process Engineer to work in our Brisbane office on our projects and studies in the Asia-Pacific region. In this office we carry out jobs on a wide range of commodities including copper, uranium, gold, alumina, rare earths, lithium, iron ore, phosphates and others. 

Job Summary:

As an Intermediate Process Engineer, you will be working as part of a team under the supervision of the Lead Process Engineer to deliver studies and projects for our mining customers. You will be working with other engineering disciplines, procurement and construction to deliver projects that meet and exceed our customer’s expectations for quality, cost, schedule, safety and benefit to their business. 

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop the process deliverables that are typical of detailed engineering (such as design criteria, mass & energy balances, process flow diagrams, equipment sizing calculations, P&IDs, control philosophy).
  • Co-ordinate with other engineering disciplines, procurement, construction, vendors, consultants, subject matter experts and client teams to deliver the project successfully.
  • Contribute to the review and optimizations of project design, cost, safety, constructability, and schedule. 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Metallurgy, Minerals Processing or Chemical Engineering and 5-8 years of relevant experience in the minerals industry.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • At least 2 years experience as an engineer working in detailed design in the minerals industry, including direct experience in developing the typical detailed engineering deliverables.
  • Well-developed skills in teamwork, communication, problem solving and client engagement.
  • Experience and design skills in copper and gold processing and hydrometallurgy will be highly regarded.
