Project Overview:

Bechtel helps customers deliver projects of purpose that create a lasting positive legacy globally. These large, complex, and multi-disciplined projects create jobs, grow economies, and provide opportunities for local and regional communities.The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world-class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea.Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure. Bechtel is providing these EPC services across all disciplines and functions for this exciting capital project. 

Job Summary:

As Engineering Planner, you will work with the project team to update and maintain the detailed engineering control schedule, run regular schedule status meetings, provide schedule analysis and critical path reviews. You will also be responsible for the development and maintenance of the engineering progress and performance (earned value management) tool and integration with the level detailed engineering control schedule. You will be instrumental in ensuring the project stays on track and on time. You will also support project controls reporting commitments and support the development and integration of individual schedules into the total project plan. 

 

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Updates and maintains the L3 detailed engineering control schedule.
  • Develops and maintains the engineering progress and performance tool for the Execution phase.
  • Ensures the schedule and engineering progress and performance tool are updated to capture current scope and budget and are fully reconciled.
  • Integrates engineering interdisciplinary schedule requirements and constraints to establish logical work sequences for assigned disciplines or specialties. Works with the performing entities to coordinate work sequences with the overall project plan.
  • Works with engineering discipline leads to maintain accurate activity relationships and accurate durational estimates.
  • Develops and updates required job/hour expenditure and forecast curves for the project. Assists in determining effort leveling decisions and person-hours review.
  • Performs job-hour resource loading in Primavera P6. Updates the schedule at regular intervals with actual and forecast values for job-hours based on updated budgets and earned value data from the external engineering progress and performance tool.
  • Other responsibilities as designated.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 6-8 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in L1, L3 and L5 schedule development and scheduling in at least 2 Bechtel (or similar Engineering Consultancy company) projects.
  • Skilled in usage of Primavera P6 including resource loading
  • Skilled in oral and written communication.
  • Advanced level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, and construction work processes in the mining industry or similar large scale industrial projects.
  • Knowledge of and experience working in EPC or EPCM environments.
  • Previous experience in monitoring and reviewing subcontractor schedule related deliverables and conducting impact analysis for any changes in execution plan
  • Working Rights in Australia without employer sponsorship are required
