A new opportunity exists for an experience project controls professional to become Deputy Project Controls Manager with Bechtel Mining and Metals, based out of our Brisbane office.

About the Role:

As the Deputy Project Controls Manager, you will be responsible for all cost engineering, cost estimating, cost analysis/control, and planning/scheduling activities associated with the Study scopes of work. This role will report to the Project Controls Manager but be guided day to day by the Study Manager.

The Project is ideally looking for someone who has demonstrated skill in identifying, analysing, and providing innovative solutions to cost engineering and planning / scheduling problems.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in establishing a qualified project controls team to undertake the scope of services.
  • Cost engineering, cost analysis/control, and planning/scheduling functions.
  • Coordination of cost estimating and directing cost analysis and control activities
  • Directing schedule development, maintenance, monitoring, impact identification, and recovery plan development activities
  • Coordinating the preparation and presentation of on-project estimates, trends, change proposals, and directing the preparation of project cost forecasts
  • Visit site on an ad hoc basis to monitor and provide guidance to the site based team.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

What You Bring:

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field with more than 13 years of project controls related work experience. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree 19 years of project controls experience.
  • Skill in directing cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control, and cost analysis, in the field and the home office.
  • Experience and demonstrated skill in directing, planning, and scheduling functions, including schedule development, control, and analysis, in the field and home office.
  • Experience and demonstrated skill in establishing criteria for Project Controls activities.
  • Proficiency in understanding PC operating systems and multi discipline specific software applications (Primavera P6, Microsoft applications and cost management tools).
  • Skilled in oral and written communication, with demonstrated ability to present Project Controls information to management/client.
  • Advanced level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up work processes.
