Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets.
Headquartered in Santiago, Chile, the M&M global business unit also has offices in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia along with execution units in the United States, Peru, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India and other project locations around the world.
Project Overview:
The Project is a greenfield mining, process, material handling and ship loading project with a focus on sustaining production, minimise environmental impacts, strengthen long-term relationships with neighbouring communities and foster local economic development.
This is a fulltime position with possible work from home options as per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with function or project leadership.
Job Summary:
The Construction Coordinator’s role include support of construction execution planning, interfacing with client project team members to develop project execution strategy, providing construction input to engineering groups on site layouts and constructability initiatives, providing construction input to supply chain groups for use in subcontract tender scope packages and equipment/bulk materials purchase requisitions, providing input to pre-commissioning, commissioning and startup planning and providing safety leadership throughout all phases of project development.
The Construction Coordinator interaction with the workforce services group will be required to support the development of the craft professional execution strategy. Project controls interaction will provide construction plan/schedule input for inclusion in overall construction schedule and providing construction deliverables for inclusion in project estimates and overall proposal.
Major Responsibilities:
- Attends model reviews and constructability reviews to provide Construction input and recommendations across disciplines
- Coordinates with all team members in generating and developing approved Constructability ideas and plans.
- Initiates the Constructability Program process and schedule, identifying construction related requirements to other functions in time to support their estimating efforts during project development.
- Develop AWP Plan
- Develop Construction Equipment Plan
- Develop temporary facilities and utility drawings
- Contributes to construction related design decisions by providing Construction’s perspective to schedules, design deliverables, equipment purchases, degree of shop fabrication, and equipment delivery configuration and sequence.
- Develops construction procedures and scopes of work for early construction services subcontracts as needed to support mobilization to site and initial phases of construction.
- Develop mobilisation plans.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be well organized, possess excellent time management skills and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Strong collaboration skills, ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Shall have knowledge of sequence of construction of major industrial projects and key construction processes and techniques.
- Proficient in reading drawings, interpret design, specifications and industry standards and codes.
- Basic Rigging knowledge is preferred.
- Prior experience working in a field engineering or field supervision position in an organization supporting direct-hire work /subcontract is preferred.
- Technical knowledge of all phases of construction and field engineering relating to the discipline interfacing with all areas.
- Shall have an experience of preparation of construction work packages and subcontract scopes of work.
