Job Summary:
Bechtel is seeking a Business Development (BD) Associate to lead market growth in Serbia while expanding strategic opportunities across the Balkans region.
This role serves as Bechtel’s primary relationship owner with government stakeholders, developing trusted partnerships with ministries, state-owned enterprises, and funding institutions. The position will originate and shape major infrastructure opportunities, positioning Bechtel early in project lifecycles and leading capture strategies across multiple countries simultaneously.
Major Responsibilities:
- Market Leadership (Serbia & Balkans): Support the development of successful proposal strategies in Serbia and support expansion in regional markets.
- Government Engagement: Build and maintain senior-level relationships with ministries and government agencies; act as a trusted advisor and Bechtel representative.
- Customer Ownership: Serve as the voice of the customer internally and maintain deep understanding of client priorities and decision drivers.
- Opportunity Development & Capture: Identify, shape, and pursue major infrastructure opportunities; develop win strategies, partnerships, and commercial approaches
- Strategic Positioning: Influence project definition, delivery and commercial models, and funding structures (e.g., PPPs, EPC/EPCM)
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Align technical, commercial, legal, and finance teams to support pursuits and long-term positioning
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:
Required:
- Experience with senior government stakeholders in Serbia and/or Balkans region
- Fluent Serbia and English language capability with other regional languages an added benefit
- Proven capability to build and maintain professional relationships with internal stakeholders and external customer/prospect organizations, supporting long-term business growth.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to clearly present insights, support decision-making, and collaborate with senior internal stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of industry trends and market dynamics relevant to Bechtel’s infrastructure and project delivery environment, and their impact on business performance.
Preferred:
- Knowledge government-funded infrastructure programs
- Experience in business development, infrastructure delivery, or project development
- Commercial acumen across contracting, risk, and financing structures
- Strong knowledge of business development fundamentals, including market analysis, customer profiling, competitive positioning, and pipeline management, with the ability to translate insights into actionable BD strategies.
