Project Overview:

Bechtel’s focus on renewables and clean energy is helping our customers deliver transformational projects. Bechtel’s renewables team will perform the project management, engineering, procurement, and construction for the Sunfish 2 project, a 360MW DC solar plant in Calhoun County, Michigan.

 

Job Summary:

As an Electrical Field Superintendent, you will lead and supervise a team of superintendents and craft professionals on various projects. Your responsibilities will include directing daily activities, managing work schedules, and coordinating subcontractor tasks and team development. You will ensure that all team members have the necessary tools and resources to work safely and efficiently, adhere to project policies and job site rules and regulations, and meet project specifications, timelines, and budgets. #LI-SP1

  

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Leadership / Supervision (Discipline Supervision up to 25 craft)  
  • Responsible for overall supervision of electrical personnel in assigned area of responsibility. 
  • Supervises and/or directs craft activities as assigned.  
  • Schedules work to be performed, and reviews work accomplished by each craft.  

Planning / Productivity  

  • Determines workforce requirements.  
  • Coordinates established area operational plans with consideration to rights-of-way, existing utilities, and local public infrastructure.  

Tools, Materials & Equipment  

  • Monitors tool and equipment usage on the site.  
  • Prepares Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables and ensures that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.  

Safety & Quality  

  • Provide ES&H leadership to personnel assigned to the electrical department. This includes preparation and implementation of safety procedures and leading Bechtel and subcontractor safety meetings. 
  • Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.  
  • Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.   

Technical  

  • Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents  
  • Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.  

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of a single or multi-discipline construction or engineering operation. 
  • Knowledge of Bechtel’s Zero Accident Philosophy.  
  • Knowledge of the Project ES&H Handbook, the Supervisors ES&H Manual, the Project Safety Management Plan and the Bechtel Core Processes. 
  • Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner 
  • Ability to develop and manage a lock-out tag-out (LOTO) program for your designated area.  
  • Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities. 
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards such as NEC, NFPA 70E, and IEEE. 
  • Knowledge and experience pertaining to the installation of underground direct bury cable installation, cable terminations, the setting and wiring of all necessary above ground equipment (wiring harnesses, invertors, tracker motors, etc.), and all subsequent required testing procedures.  
  • Ability to identify and anticipate labour issues, coordinating with industrial relations as needed 
  • Knowledge of Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs). 
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards. 
  • Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment. 
  • Knowledge of the use of subcontracts, and the contractor and subcontractor’s responsibilities contained in subcontract documents. Experience working with, supervising and administering subcontractors and/or Direct Hire workforce
