Project Overview:

Bechtel’s new Manufacturing & Technology (M&T) Global Business Unit (GBU) is dedicated to winning and executing work in growing sectors such as semiconductor fabrication, AI data centers, and battery manufacturing in the US and abroad. This industry’s owners and engineers are heavily committed to BIM execution, so our EPC approach to the business of design and construction must seamlessly integrate with BIM principles. 

Job Summary:

As the BIM Manager, you will play an integral role in project execution using BIM. This includes applying business standards, authoring project standards, managing the BIM application stack on project, and providing support and training to other functions.  

This role is available in-person in a permanent US-based office (Reston, VA; Houston, TX; Chandler, AZ; etc.) or project site. Occasional business travel domestically (Virginia, Texas, Utah, etc.) and abroad (India) will be required. 

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. #LI-MJ1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage BIM Coordinators in support of model maintenance, auditing, and coordination. 
  • Author and enforce the BEP. Conduct regular assessments to review the BEP and other execution plans, and to seek opportunities for improvement. 
  • Define and track BIM KPIs. 
  • Create and maintain project-specific standards. 
  • Support the functional Digital Solutions team in the exchange of project data with the Data Mesh and other applications (TEAMWorks, Setroute, etc.). 
  • Facilitate model coordination between engineering, construction, subcontractors, vendors, and other team members. 
  • Provide on-project training and troubleshooting in coordination with discipline BIM Leads. 
  • Support PIIM team workshops with client, partners, and stakeholders to develop and implement the information management strategy and plan. 
  • Manage relationships with third party BIM developers/implementors. 
  • Participate in BIM/automation industry and trade organizations. 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience​.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check including verification of employment, education, and travel. 
  • Must have a valid US passport, or ability to acquire one within 6 months

    Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Significant experience working across functions (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, IS&T, etc.) for BIM and project execution. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to explain new work processes and technologies to all levels of the organization. 
  • Self-motivated individual with outstanding leadership skills and the ability to influence across project functions and disciplines. 
  • Ability to manage priorities and take on additional evolving responsibilities with demonstrated experience providing direction/supervising to BIM professionals. 
  • Ability to problem solve, especially in an integrated project delivery information environment, applying industry best practices. 
  • Previous experience in developing project standards, families, and data management. 
  • Prior experience and demonstrated capability to present information and analysis to senior management. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people of varied backgrounds and objectives. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 10+ plus years’ experience on complex EPC projects, with a minimum of 8+ years BIM experience on large-scale projects. 
  • Professional certification in primary technical area of experience (Professional Engineer, Certified Database Administrator, Developer Certification, etc.). 
  • Knowledge of Bechtel standard applications and processes. 
  • Experience working with teams that include members overseas. 
  • Experience in developing data management execution strategies and configuration control. 
  • Experience with definition and configuration of the Common Data Environment (CDE) and related workflows. 
  • Experience in working closely with senior client staff and JV partners or subcontractors in designing and implementing digital solutions. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to explain digital transformation and digital solutions and technologies to all levels of the organization. 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Autodesk Revit. 
  • Autodesk Navisworks Manage. 
  • Autodesk Civil3D and/or AutoCAD. 
  • Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM 360/Forma, including Docs, Model Coordination, and Build modules. 
  • Dynamo, Grasshopper, Python, or similar coding platforms. 
  • Autodesk APIs (app APIs, APS, Forge, etc.).
