Job Summary:
Career opportunity available to self-motivated, high performing Senior Process Engineer with a proven track record seeking technical/leadership challenges in the process design of a wide range of technologies. The engineer would be required to utilize their significant knowledge in all areas of design from conceptual studies to detailed engineering. The engineer should have a proven track record and will be recognized for their understanding of the key process concepts as well as having previous experience leading a team of process engineers. The candidate will be familiar with standard process deliverables such as design basis, H&MB, PFDs, process descriptions, P&IDs, equipment sizing and process datasheets etc. and would be comfortable both originating as well as checking and approving these documents.
Arranging detailed phases of engineering work, applying judgment in the application of techniques as well as preparing or assist in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals.
Simulation experience is highly desirable and experience in multiple software (HYSYS, Pro/II, UniSim, ProMax) will be an advantage.
Major Responsibilities:
- Develop overall plant and unit simulations using standard process simulation programs (HYSYS, Pro/II, UniSim and/or ProMax), including development of H&MBs.
- Develop Process Flow Diagram (PFDs) and Utility Flow Diagrams (UFDs) being able to explain selected flow configuration.
- Calculation of equipment sizes including vessels, columns, heat exchanger requirements, and packaged equipment specifications.
- Attendance and input at major reviews such a PFD/P&ID reviews, HAZOPs, and 3D model reviews. Representing the process engineering discipline and being able to explain process design questions to clients and other disciplines.
- Development of relief load narratives, relief load calculations, load summaries and relief valve datasheets.
- Development of offsites and utility design including consumptions and the overall utility summary.
- Development of alarm and trip setpoint and process safety time calculations.
- Develop and maintain P&IDs through the entire life cycle of a project
- Develop and issue line designation tables (line lists)
- Perform hydraulic calculations for rotating equipment, control valves, lines and networks.
- Perform flare design calculations and modelling (such as using Flare System Analyser)
Education and Experience Requirements:
- A recognized master’s degree in chemical engineering from an accredited college or university with a professional license in an appropriate engineering discipline from a recognized licensing board
- Experience in executing Middle Eastern projects, brownfield experience and familiarity with Aramco standards and specifications is highly desirable.
- At least 10 years of process design related experience in Petrochemical, Energy Transition or Oil and Gas industry.
- Pre-FEED and FEED experiences in related types projects.
- A conceptual understanding of chemical engineering principles of heat transfer, vapor-liquid equilibria, mass transfer and thermodynamics, and their general application to process design.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent knowledge of technical theory, engineering principles, good engineering practices and how to apply them for design execution
- Familiarity with major regulations and industry codes and standards affecting standard design, quality, or processes.
- Conversant in relief calculation methodologies and industry codes and standards applicable to pressure relief design.
- Knowledgeable in process design of equipment, including vessels, columns, heat exchangers and package process specifications for equipment and control valves.
