Project Overview

International Bechtel Company Ltd is providing engineering and project management support to our customer for the development of a next-generation city on the Mediterranean coast. The Project will cover the development of residential, commercial, and recreational spaces, tourism amenities, and economic zones.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will look after the procedures, processes, quality, compliance to procedures, risks and technical aspects of the projects. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including project management and quality to deliver desired outcomes on the project. You will ensure that technical deliverables meet the specification and design criteria requirements.

Working location will be a short-term single status assignment at the project head office in Abu Dhabi, UAE (up to maximum 12 months), potentially followed by an on-site project assignment.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for oversight of the technical assurance on the project.
  • Possesses full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating various standards, codes and regulations on the project.
  • Directs the preparation of project procedures, design criteria and specifications.
  • Conduct regular audits of technical deliverables.
  • Investigate non-conformance issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with project teams including with customer to ensure technical compliance on the project.
  • Coordinate and manage deliverables required for submission to regulatory authorities
  • Identify the risks and provide mitigation measures.
  • Support and provide training to the discipline individuals.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A recognized Engineering Bachelor’s/Master’s degree (or international equivalent) from an accredited college or university with an experience in managing technical aspects on the project with an overall experience of 20+ years.
  • A professional license from a recognized licensing or registration board is preferred.
  • Relevant experience in the MENA region and a sound understanding of the cultural norms and requirements of the region
  • Strong English language communication and report writing skills.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, be a team player and have a knowledge sharing approach.
  • Ability to solve problems by thinking laterally and be able to understand the needs and requirements of the client and other entities – to provide technical compliance and trainings.
  • Must be able to work within a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team and manage challenging multi-cultural relationships.
  • Must be self-driven and able to plan and execute work without direct supervision from senior management and/or peers.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Broad knowledge of all phases of engineering, field activities, production techniques, building materials, and construction methods for development of various procedures on the project.
  • Understands technical issues, risks and cost related to selection of design features and unique engineering design requirements for the infrastructure projects.
  • Broad knowledge of the industry and regulatory standards, practices and procedures.
  • Has experience with engineering work planning, scheduling, cost estimating and program management.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, changing priorities and work with ambiguity.
  • Promote the creation of a work environment, supported by leadership, which fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
  • Meets or exceeds customers' realistic expectations for technical quality and manages the customer relationship on the project to assure continuing customer satisfaction.
