Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead a team and interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate the engineering aspects for all Airport buildings including corresponding interfaces on the project. You will participate in project planning, proposal review, and will own the engineering elements of capital estimates. Your technical guidance and recommendations will ensure engineering aspects of Airport buildings meet project requirements and remain within scope and budget. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all Airport buildings and corresponding interfaces with land side and air side of an airport.
  • Possesses full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments.
  • Participates in project planning prior to proposals to provide technical guidance in the engineering and construction review of proposals.
  • Provides input to and owns the engineering elements of a project capital estimate (proposals and execution) quantities and budgets.
  • Reviews major changes or deviations in project scope, project material quantities, budget or schedule, and assists particularly with defining the change, obtaining accurate estimates of the hours involved, and recommending budget adjustment.
  • Ensures engineering efforts with Project Manager, Procurement, Construction, Startup, Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H) and Project Controls
  • Directs the preparation of project studies, reports, forecasts, special engineering reports and plant data book including design management strategy and execution to achieve the project objectives.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A recognized Civil Bachelor’s/Master’s degree (or international equivalent) from an accredited college or university with an experience in Airport buildings and its construction with an overall experience of 20+ years.
  • A professional license from a recognized licensing or registration board is preferred.
  • Relevant experience in the MENA region and a sound understanding of the cultural norms and requirements of the region Strong English language communication and report writing skills.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, be a team player and have a knowledge sharing approach.
  • Ability to solve problems by thinking laterally and be able to understand the needs and requirements of the client and other entities – to provide planning / design / feasibility solutions in a multi -disciplinary / multi - sectional context.
  • Must be able to work within a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team and manage challenging multi-cultural relationships.
  • Must be self-driven and able to plan and execute work without direct supervision from senior management and/or peers.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Broad knowledge of all phases of engineering, field activities, production techniques, building materials, and construction methods for development of various airport buildings and corresponding interfaces on the project
  • Experience in managing the design of all airport buildings.
  • Understands technical issues and cost related to selection of design features and unique engineering design requirements of various airport buildings.
  • Participates in project planning prior to proposals to provide technical guidance in the engineering and construction review of proposals.
  • Broad knowledge of the industry and regulatory standards, practices and procedures for airport building design and construction.
  • Has experience with engineering work planning, scheduling, cost estimating and program management.
  • Experienced with managing knowledge of sustainability and its integration into the design and the construction of various buildings.
  • Experience in planning, and experience in both design-build and design-bid-build forms of procurement with contractors and consultants.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, changing priorities and work with ambiguity.
