Project Overview: 

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.

Position Summary:

As a Senior Water Treatment Engineer, you will support the design development of Mechanical systems and equipment for the AP1000 project by preparing studies, piping and instrumentation diagrams, calculations, engineering specifications, data sheets, material requisitions, performing evaluations, and more in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. This position will require working with other functions and disciplines in a team environment.

 

This position will be based in Warsaw, followed by a short-term assignment (less than 12 months) at our US NS&E office in Reston, VA. At the culmination of the short-term assignment, the candidate will return to the Warsaw office to continue the position. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the mechanical group and other disciplines/functions independently in developing system designs.

  • Resolve technical issues related to the discipline independently including any required interface with other disciplines, functions, vendors, and/or client.

  • Execute schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work products.

  • Support development of project cost and schedule estimates.

  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with a team and providing support as needed

  • Other duties, as assigned

 

Qualifications and Skills:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Level I- BS degree in Chemical Engineering (or related) from an accredited university or college with nine (9) years of progressive related experience. 

  • Level II - BS degree in Chemical Engineering (or related) from an accredited university or college with thirteen (13) years of progressive related experience. 

  • Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

  • Must be authorized to live and work in country without sponsorship.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience with plant water balances, wastewater characterization, water quality, and water treatment system design.

  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).

  • Ability to utilize office automation tools effectively.

  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards.

  • Broad knowledge of the application of Mechanical engineering design principles.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Bechtel Corporate guides and standards.

  • Advanced design experience with desalination.

  • Experience in power (nuclear) plant design.

  • Experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME-NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000.

  • Previous Bechtel and/or DOD or DOE project experience.

  • M.S. degree in Chemical (or related) engineering from an accredited university or college.

  • U.S. Professional Engineering License in Chemical Engineering (or related) or ability to obtain license within 12 months of hire.
