Postiion Summary

The Project Innovation and Information Manager (PIIM) is responsible for spearheading the implementation of cutting-edge innovations and digital solutions across cross-functional workflows. This pivotal role reports to the project director and requires seamless coordination with internal and external stakeholders. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Prepare, implement, and maintain the project Information Management (IM) strategy and plans, working collaboratively with clients, partners, and stakeholders.   
  • Contribute to the Project Execution Plan (PEP) for alignment with the project IM strategies and plans. 
  • Conduct workshops with customers, operators, partners and stakeholders to develop project innovation/digital use-cases and handover requirements.  
  • Develop project Exchange Information Requirements (EIR) as part of contract flow-downs to the delivery teams. 
  • Implement Project Management Information Systems (PMIS) including the Common Data Environment (CDE) and associated integrated work-processes, systems configurations to support application exchange requirements. 
  • Establish and lead an innovation change control board to identify impactful innovations, streamline implementation planning, manage change, and institutionalize programs. Champion innovation across the Project by fostering a culture that encourages the submission, consideration, and implementation of improvement opportunities and ideas. 
  • Enhance tender documents with specific contract language to enable the adoption of targeted innovation within project delivery teams and support integration with digital workflows. 
  • Develop a scorecard for assessing the technical IM capability and capacity of each delivery team. Develop training plans for upskilling to meet project needs as required. 
  • Establish and implement project dashboards for monitoring project execution KPI’s, and tracking the maturity of IM & innovation use-cases. 
  • Alignment of processes and procedures with industry-wide IM standards, including ISO19650. 
  • Document lessons learned and implement improved workflows to optimize project efficiency and effectiveness. 
  • Coordinate with delivery team functions (e.g. Engineering, ES&H, Project Controls, and Construction) to develop IM and innovation use cases to support the project, including work-packaging/4D/5D/6D strategies. 
  • Review the IS&T Project automation plan to confirm alignment with the Project IM strategy and plans, integrating best practices for information security & privacy requirements. 
  • Devise training plans for the usage of systems, tools, and the CDE, guaranteeing the data integrity of the Project Information Model (PIM), Asset Information Model (AIM) and engage with off-Project subject matter experts as needed. 
  • Conduct regular assessments to review the implementation of the project IM plan and assess the maturity achieved on the Project, seeking opportunities for improvement. 
  • Collaborate closely with functional PIIM team, Bechtel SMEs, Functional, and Innovation teams to leverage standards, integrate best practices, and develop and deploy proven and emerging technologies. 

 

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering with 15+ years of experience in delivering large complex AEC projects, including 10+ years of experience in BIM, GIS, and innovation implementation. 

Additional Qualifications

  • Extensive experience preparing, implementing, and maintaining IM and innovation strategies and plans. Ideally in accordance with ISO 19650. 
  • Competence in defining and configuring PMIS, including CDE and associated integrated workflows, 
  • Experience with implementing ‘right-sized’ IM and innovation solutions for client environments and requirements, ideally as a Delivery Partner or PMC as part of an integrated team. 
  • Track record of working closely with and influencing senior client staff, project cross-functional teams, design consultants, and contractors. 
  • Proven experience supporting the tender process from conceptual design to RFP, bid evaluation, selection, negotiation, and execution. 
  • Experience in facilitating workshops, work process mapping and implementing a structured approach to scope management and change management. 
  • Previous involvement in developing project BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), templates, standards & classification systems, class libraries, and master data models for large-scale projects. 
  • Proficiency in defining and deploying project dashboards using GIS & PowerBI.
