Project Overview

Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. We are partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline. Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center markets. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the M&T global business unit also includes colleagues working in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, India, and additional project locations around the world.

 

Position Summary

The Manufacturing and Technology Business Unit is seeking an experienced LEED Specialist. The LEED Specialist will assist with Project responsibilities for multiple LEED certifications for a fabrication complex located in New Albany, Ohio. 

 

The LEED Specialist will work closely with the LEED Manager, Stakeholders, Responsible Engineers, Suppliers and Consultants to coordinate and support Procurement, Construction, ES&H and Quality to fulfill their responsibilities in terms of attaining the targeted credits for LEED certification. 

 

The LEED Specialist will report to the LEED Manager and Assistant Project Engineering Architectural Manager.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist the LEED Manager and team members responsible for the desired certification of all buildings as required and manage consultants and colleagues to achieve those ends.
  • Support the design, procurement, and construction teams with LEED technical reviews of documentation for conformance to LEED requirements, documentation management, and appropriately elevate possible concerns that could affect achieving the desired credits.
  • Engage and ensure sustainability and LEED goals and objectives are properly executed onsite by the design team, contractors, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Maintain a working file of all LEED submittals and provide regular updates to project teams.  

 

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (design), construction, sustainability, or a related field with a minimum of 4 years post higher-education experience in a similar role or 8 years of related work experience is required in lieu of degree.
  • Proof of active LEED Green Associate (GA) or LEED Accredited Professional (AP) BD+C qualification.

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience working with design teams and contractors with successful certification of a minimum of three LEED BD+C projects under LEED Version 4.0 or 4.1.
  • Experience with packaging and submitting documents to GBCI LEED Online for credit.
  • Experience  with construction activities as they relate to engineering disciplines, sustainability, and contract administration.
  • Ability to review engineering, vendor, and construction documents, and ensure implementation of LEED requirements and identify missing or incorrect elements.
  • Ability to manage the coordination with design consultants and construction contractors to resolve issues associated LEED requirements.
  • Ability to create procurement requisitions in Bechtel software preferred.
  • Ability to manage client expectations and deliver within agreed parameters.
  • Proficient in LEED Online, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint and Microsoft Project. Experience with Bluebeam preferred.
  • Ability to foster close collaboration between all relevant parties and stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and professional relationship management skills.
  • Strong professional writing, including policy language, speaking and technical presentation ability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in Electrical or Mechanical preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of the LEED requirements in an industrial or fabrication facility.
  • Previous Bechtel Experience.
  • Previous experience and knowledge on semiconductor manufacturing design process.
