Project Overview:

Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. We are partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline. Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center markets. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the M&T global business unit also includes colleagues working in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, India, and additional project locations around the world.

 

Position Summary:

Applies specialized knowledge of commissioning and startup methods for flushing, passivation and testing to develop flush plans specific for semi-conductor facilities. Provides the resolution of technical questions arising in the area of flushing passivation and testing of semi-conductor facility systems. Uses advanced commissioning startup engineering techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of related sciences and disciplines. Role will report. Project CSU Manager Position will be based at the project site in New Albany Ohio with the expectation of travel on business trips to the client's facilities in Arizona up to monthly and period visits to other sites worldwide and or visits to the NDEU for Engineering support.

 

Objectives are defined; consults with supervisor on unusual aspects or developments. Provides technical advice and guidance to engineers and technical Contacts, client counterpart representatives or suppliers and appropriate field personnel as necessary to clarify aspects of commissioning and startup engineering requirements.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed flushing and passivation plans semi-conductor systems, Integrate 3rd party chemical supplier and all CSU discipline activities into these plans; Provide input and updates to project controls as required to maintain accuracy and progress of project schedules, QURR and other progress tracking tools.
  • Using well developed interpersonal skills to interact closely and frequently with client team PM’s and operations and maintenance personnel while maintaining a level of commercial awareness.
  • Use Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Bechtel Standard Applications SetRoute, Teamworks, E-Track and Infoworks in the execution of work assignments.
  • Work hours as required, including shift-work, overtime, weekends and holidays as necessary to support the project.
  • Ensures that work being performed is within scope of services and within budget.
  • Inputs to project management, engineering, and construction to ensure startup requirements are incorporated into project activities, including review of project designs and construction to ensure operability and personnel safety.
  • Coordinates with client representatives to obtain approval on work as it is accomplished.
  • Reviews and approves key startup methods, procedures, and schedules on assigned project(s).
  • Prepare system turnover packages in accordance with project procedures by assembling and reviewing all system test documentation (all disciplines) for adequacy and completeness. 
  • Preparation of system testing and turnover documentation including scoped documents, test records, test procedures and other similar required documents.
  • Provides technical advice and counsel on specific assignments.
  • Provides input and participates in special technical educational and training programs as directed.
  • Performs field consulting services as required.
  • Executes specialized assignments within a type of industry or type of industrial process for startup, operations, maintenance or testing.
  • Assists in the preparation of project proposals.
  • Maintains contact with others within area of expertise as directed regarding new concepts, approaches and solutions to problems.
  • Assists in project design reviews and project operations manual preparation.
  • Prepares and gives presentations as directed.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

Basic Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, a hard science or mathematics from an accredited college or university, or a professional license in an appropriate engineering or scientific discipline from a recognized licensing board, or extensive progressive work experience in testing and flushing.
  • Five years' experience in the utility scale industry.
  • At least five years' experience in supervising and managing craft mechanical workers to perform maintenance or testing and flushing activities.
  • Must be able to walk at least 3 miles per day over uneven ground and be able to climb stair towers 75’ in height at least 6 times per day to access project equipment.
  • Must have the right to work and remain in the United States.

 

Additional Qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of related construction and engineering practices and the economics involved.
  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, for testing and flushing.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
