Project Overview

Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. Bechtel will design and build Phase 1 of the Ohio One project, a total of 2.5 million square feet, including 600,000 square feet of cleanrooms. Construction will require as much steel as eight Eiffel Towers and as much concrete as the tallest skyscrapers.

 

Bechtel will strengthen future economic development in the region by partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline.

 

Position Summary

Capability Assessment Superintendent will assess craft capabilities during onboarding process and provide recommendations for upskilling to Labor relations. Capability Assessment Superintendent will be an integral part of the craft development of direct hire team and will support and facilitate ongoing efforts in Field Supervision and Craft development. Reports directly to the Upskilling.

 

Responsibilities

  • Maintains working and active relationship with Site Services Manager to support craft training/capability assessment needs.
  • Support of craft training and certification program on the project.
  • Conduct training and capability assessments (Piping, Formwork, Rebar, Scaffolding, JLG, Rigging, Tower climber, etc.) as requested by Project.
  • Ensure that the training and assessment programs are consistent with project guidelines and procedures.
  • Schedule, coordinate and monitor classes, instructors, facilities, times, participants (level) and instructor evaluations.
  • Provides upskilling to all levels of helpers, journeymen, foreman and general foreman.
  • Responsible for Craft Competency Compliance to ES&H core processes and SWPP’s.
  • Evaluates craft training needs and makes recommendations to the Project Management team for consideration of additional program development or project support.
  • Train and or evaluate (as HEOE Heavy Equipment Operator Evaluator per SWPP) Verifications of Competency (VOC)
  • Conduct Competency to Operate (CTO) Evaluations on Hand and Power Tools
  • Maintain record keeping of all training and evaluations within project timekeeping software, and any other required data collection systems.

 

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • University degree in related field.
  • Construction Supervision experience a must.
  • Good analytical and strategic planning skills: able to prioritize, balance short and long-term priorities.
  • Good understanding of construction industry.
  • Effective Interpersonal Skill.
  • The right to work and remain in the United States.

 

Additional Qualifications:

  • Master Trainer.
  • Bechtel Trainer for JLG/Sky Climber/Forklift/Cranes.
  • NCCER Master Trainer.
  • NCCER Coordinator
  • NCCER Rigging Practical Examiner
  • Bilingual – Proficiency in Spanish Verbal and Written is a plus
