The Project:
Bechtel is seeking to work with a major Indian corporation to provide Project Management Consultant (PMC) Services and Engineering Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) Services for offsites and utilities (OSBL) for a multi-billion-dollar upgrade / expansion of their existing petrochemical facilities in India. The PMC Services will be led out of India with personnel deployed in Mumbai region, the project sites in India, as well as several key contractor locations across India. The EPCM Services for OSBL will be led out of Bechtel’s India offices. 

You will bring your experience and expertise to the PMC role while working within the customer’s organization as part of an integrated team. Position Summary

  • Oversees and monitors Contractors’ Plant Design & Piping materials planning and requisitioning progress, and reports to Core PMC team and Project Engineering Management.
  • Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials and/or difficult coordination requirements. 
  • Plans, coordinates, or monitors the preparation of specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendations. 
  • Oversees and monitors the preparation of material requisitions for all piping components.
  • Coordinate’s engineering efforts in assigned areas between specialty and other engineering groups or disciplines, with the Client, Suppliers, and Contractors and between other groups.
  • Oversees and monitors the preparation of letters to vendors and clients. Review vendor data sheets.
  • Reviews bid analyses and makes recommendation. 
  • Oversees and monitors the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs and staffing requirements for proposals, forecasts and change orders. 
  • Reviews and checks work of Contractor engineers. 
  • Supports the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction. 

 

Skills and Qualifications:

Essential

  • A recognised degree in an engineering or scientific discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Experience of Licensor units within a PVC Plant.
  • Thorough knowledge of discipline engineering techniques, the design of engineered systems, and engineering and design calculations.
  • Knowledge of Bechtel or other Engineering Contractor’s work processes, procedures and administrative practices and has experience of applying these.
  • Broad knowledge of the application of engineering to plant constructability as applied to construction methods and materials.
  • Understanding of engineering planning and control methods including computerised methods.
  • Understanding of the roles played by other departments on projects including basic construction practices and the economics involved.
  • Understanding of industry or regulatory codes and standards and design criteria pertinent to the particular engineering discipline.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.

 

Desirable 

  • E&PI knowledge is a plus. 
  • A professional membership or license in an appropriate engineering discipline from a recognised licensing board
  • Sufficient number of specialised courses in relevant general engineering or appropriate engineering disciplines to meet job requirements and Practical work experience in design engineering or relevant equivalent experience sufficient to demonstrate competence.

Assignment conditions

If you are successful Bechtel will organise your relocation and logistics (Indian visas, travel, and provision of accommodation in Mumbai)

  • We will provide accommodation for you whilst you are in country (single or accompanied by spouse).

If you prefer rotation:

  • Our single status rotational schedule is an option for you. This means that you would mobilise and spend 10 weeks working in country and then you would go home to UK for 2 weeks and so on for the project duration.
