Position Summary:

Assists in managing discipline work process execution and assuring technical adequacy in accordance with company, contract, and industry codes and industry codes and standard. Prepares and reviews technical reports, studies, procurement documentation, and design documentation, performing calculations using engineering software, and supporting systems.

 

This position is a full-time role located in the Knoxville, Tennessee project office, and works a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage discipline work process execution and assure technical adequacy in accordance with company, contract, and industry codes and standards.
  • Provide direction to discipline work group consistent with project/program.
  • Develop and revise Mechanical Handling design documents and Procurement Documents.
  • Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team.
  • Support discipline design reviews to verify that requirements and expectations for design products are met.
  • Support the PEM/PE/EGS on interfaces with client and other disciplines.
  • Complete assigned engineering tasks within budget/schedule.
  • Support and implement the Nuclear Safety Quality Culture in day-to-day work activities.
  • Support the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.

 

Qualification and Skills:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Level I: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university with 6 years of experience.
  • Level II: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university with 9 years of experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Related experience includes but is not limited to MHD, MFD, MSD, Material Requisitions, Specification, calculations, and datasheets for Mechanical equipment on powerplants, refineries, or chemical/nuclear process facilities.
  • Knowledge of current computer applications for engineering and design.
  • Knowledge and ability to utilize Microsoft office suite of products.
  • Familiar with regulations and industry codes and standards affecting complex engineering work within discipline.
  • Understands technical issues and costs related to selection of typical design features within discipline.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Knows how to develop all standard deliverables within discipline.
  • Experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME-NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000.
  • Familiar with effort required to prepare standard discipline deliverables and knows how to prepare standard engineering budgets and schedules within discipline.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineers license (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering.
  • Experience providing engineering support to procurement, construction, and startup.
  • Planning and organizational skills.
  • Experience in design of a DOE or commercial nuclear facilities.
  • Experience in front end mechanical design and equipment selection for nuclear waste processing, nuclear, or nuclear chemical facilities including cranes, and other material handling equipment.
