Project Overview

The Cheniere Corpus Christi Liquefaction (CCL) Project is a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) export facility located on the north shore of Corpus Christi Bay in Gregory, Texas. The 1,000+ acre facility started bulk early works in July 2015 as the first greenfield export facility in the United States. Bechtel has successfully and safely completed construction and it now consists of three operating Trains process with an LNG production capacity of approximately 15 million tons per year (MTPA), three LNG storage tanks with combined capacity of 480,000 cubic meters of LNG, 2 Jetty superstructures that can accommodate the world’s largest vessels, and dozens of associated buildings and utilities.

 

Corpus Christi Liquefaction Project Stage 3 (CCL3) is a new phase at the existing CCL facility and will consist of seven midscale liquefaction trains with an LNG production capacity of approximately 10 MTPA, and associated infrastructure including utilities. CCL3 will perform all this work predominantly on a direct hire basis with support from only a few specialty and service subcontractors.

 

Position Summary

The Senior Field Planner will lead and perform schedule development, maintenance, monitoring, and presentation activities as directed for proposals, studies and / or execution projects as required. Ensures total project scope is included in the plan while determining schedule dates for work activities within discipline areas or specialties. Develops milestones to support the project schedule and develops resource loading and leveling as required. Establishes work sequence and activity durations for a specific disciplines or specialty as needed.  

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform and/or coordinate, collect, verify, and integrate the work scope for all entities, departments, and/or disciplines into the total project plan. Reviews and ensures the representation of project scope in schedules. Establishes the conceptual scope of schedule studies. Prepares and analyzes comparisons of scope, quantities, and cost data between the projects.
  • Provide comments and recommendations for planning and scheduling requirements relative to staffing and project control. Prepare detailed staffing plans for planning and scheduling activities. Review design scope criteria and quantities for completeness and reasonableness, and coordinates with the project to develop additional estimating bases when information is incomplete.
  • Review and evaluate schedule durations for all discipline’s activities relative to the support of project milestones. Ensures all disciplines / departments are aware of the schedule and understand their responsibilities. Supervise/direct/perform the calculation of durations and other considerations affecting activity durations.
  • Determine interdisciplinary constraints or interfaces that define activity sequences and logical relationships for inclusion in the schedule.
  • Works with all performing organizations, disciplines and entities to coordinate work sequences with the total project plan.
  • Develops and applies installation rates to quantity takeoffs and developed quantities within a discipline or other specialty.
  • Plan, organize, and execute schedule resource loading and leveling. Coordinate development of all bulk commodity release and installation curves. Integrate appropriate manpower requirements for each discipline/specialty relative to the overall project needs. Determine quantity and manpower levels in support of the project needs and schedule philosophy.
  • Provides schedule knowledge on a continuous basis to assist in discipline planning and interfacing with others.
  • Perform schedule monitoring, including identifying critical activities and update functions for specific applications, disciplines, or specialties.
  • Develop and implement requirements / process for updating and monitoring the schedule.
  • Prepares and analyzes comparisons of scope and quantity data between projects. Perform benchmarking analysis of plans (quantity, unit rates, milestones, etc.) to demonstrate plan viability.
  • Lead and perform schedule risk analysis of plans to determine the required amount of contingency to meet M&M procedural requirements.
  • Perform project schedule analysis and study of problem areas to determine criticality of schedule activities. Recommend alternatives for schedule improvement to project team for discussion and/or decision.
  • Prepare and develop study information as assigned including the coordination of information. Responsible for integration of activities and total work scope identification. Evaluates study results and recommends conclusions for project team consideration and discussion.
  • Responsible for preparing and presenting the schedule impact report (SIR) as well as leading the development and review of schedule recovery plans, including evaluation of additional resources/costs required to implement such plans.

 

Qualifications & Skills

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, and/or equivalent knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience
  • Advanced level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes.
  • Experience performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning & scheduling functions such as schedule development, control, and analysis in both field and the home office environments.
  • Experience leading a planning team providing day-to-day supervision as well as training and development opportunities.
  • Fluent in English
  • Proven ability to exercise a high degree of individual initiative, strategic thinking, discretion, and judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in high pressure situations with changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate team members effectively & positively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience presenting to and interacting with customers

 

Additional Qualifications 

  • Skilled in understanding technical processes, engineering drawings, quantity determinations, and financial reports.
  • Proficiency with Project Controls operating systems, with proficiency in several basic software applications. Proficiency with multiple discipline specific software applications currently used in Bechtel (Primavera, Microsoft Office Applications and Tilos, for example).

 

Additional Information

Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces.  Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e., harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
